Eugenie H. Shea

Ms Shea joined Medicus in April 2008. She has been responsible for establishing and managing all corporate operations for Medicus Insurance Company, recently acquired by NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company. Ms Shea has more than 30 years of medical professional liability insurance experience.
From 2004 to 2008, prior to joining Medicus, Ms Shea served as Director for Catlin Group Inc. in charge of its excess and surplus lines healthcare professional liability nationwide program providing primary and excess medical professional liability coverage through Catlin’s syndicate at Lloyd’s of London, Catlin Insurance Company, Ltd, U.K., Catlin Specialty Insurance Company and Catlin Insurance Company, Inc.
Prior to joining Catlin, Ms Shea was one of three insurance executives who founded and launched Advocate MD Insurance Company of the Southwest. Her responsibilities included all facets of insurance operations including Claims, Risk Management, Underwriting and agent relations.
From 2002 to 2004, Ms Shea was a Senior Vice President with Arthur J Gallagher’s GHIS subsidiary, focusing on the non-traditional risk transfer niche.
For the 21 years preceding her relocating to Texas, Ms Shea served in executive management positions with three world class medical professional liability insurance company leaders headquartered in California: Farmers Insurance Group’s Truck Insurance Exchange handling nationwide professional liability insurance programs for institutional healthcare and physician insureds; NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company in charge of its physician program and commencement of its hospital professional liability program; and as Executive Vice President Insurance Services for the Doctors Company.
Ms Shea earned a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University’s Presidential Key Executive MBA program. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and is a member of the California bar.
